Thursday, December 5, 5:30 – 9:00 PM – Vacasa HQ 850 Northwest 13th Avenue Portland, OR 97209
Solar Oregon is turning 40 and celebrating 4 decades of promoting clean energy. To be around as non-profit for 40 years is a testament to the support of the community, the strength of the many board members and staff who have guided it and the relevance of this organization’s work.
Solar Oregon was founded to offer an alternative to nuclear power during the 1970’s and 80’s. Back then electricity produced by the sun was only in the research lab and solar energy consisted of a couple of passive solar and water heating applications.
Fast forward 40 years and Solar Power is the fastest-growing source of electricity worldwide and we have enough of it in our state to power over 77,000 homes
Listen to a presentation by 6 other non-profits for 5 minutes about what they’ve done in 2019. This year we’ll hear from OSEIA (Oregon Solar Energy Industry Association), AAAH (African American Alliance for Homeownership) and GRIT (Green Roof Think Tank), Verde, Eco Faith Recovery and PCEF Coalition (Portland Clean Energy Fund).
Free pizza and salad served courtesy of Hot Lips Pizza and 1 free beer courtesy of Lagunitas brewpub.
