Building Energy & Controls Apprenticeship Program

A job That Works Towards a Sustainable World

Our world demands more energy-efficient and resilient buildings, but we need people to manage those buildings and keep them efficient. The Building Energy & Controls Apprenticeship (B.E.C.A.) program prepares students to become energy auditors, building managers, and more.

Lane Community College Offers a B.E.C.A. Program. This is a 2-year program that results in an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.

Year 1 students attend Lane Community College online and learn the ins and outs of the energy management industry, from ventilation systems to lighting controls.

Year 2, which can start as soon as the summer after completing the first year classes, students begin a 2000-hour, paid on-the-job training program. This prepares students to become energy auditors, building managers, and more, depending on their interests and abilities.

The highly accessible program encourages minorities, women, students, and veterans to apply. Upon completion, the student receives an A.A.S degree.

All classes are online, so you can work part-time and still take classes.
